Community residents who are unemployed or underemployed can get information on local organizations that can offer them assistance in myriad areas at a free resource fair hosted by Moraine Valley Community College on Friday, March 27, from 9 a.m. to noon. The fair will be in the Moraine Business and Conference Center, Building M, on the main campus, 9000 W. College Pkwy., Palos Hills.
Representatives from more than 25 community organizations will be available to answer questions and provide materials on emergency financial assistance, food pantries, foreclosure prevention/homebuyer education, mental health services, disability assistance, healthcare options, senior services, legal assistance, governmental programs, and more.
The fair is being coordinated by the Career Connections team from Moraine Valley’s Corporate, Community and Continuing Education Department. Career Connection grant programs assist unemployed and underemployed people from high school age to 50+ with career information, training and employment opportunities.
“Our team saw a need to connect the unemployed and underemployed throughout the college’s district with additional resources,” said Lisa Bly, assistant dean of Corporate, Community and Continuing Education. “Our aim is to provide an opportunity for community members in need to find community resources that address issues they are facing in our current economy. We are very pleased at the willingness of so many community partners to participate.”
Registration for the resource fair is not required. For more information, contact Lisa Cockerham at (708) 608-4084 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
