An Oak Lawn man claims he left his bicycle outside Mr. Gyros at 9229 S. Cicero as he went into purchase food. When he returned ten minutes later, the bike was gone. He searched and found another Oak Lawn man riding the bike northbound on Cicero Avenue.
The alleged victim then approached the man on the bike and knocked him off the bike causing the alleged thief to attempt a get away on foot. The victim was having none of that as he held the man down until the police could arrive.
The alleged bike-napper told the police officers several stories. First, he said he bought the bike at the bargain price of $13 from a man outside his home. Then he claimed it was a $15 purchase and he was riding the bike when the victim approached him. The alleged thief did get a free ride to the police station.
MARIANO’S HAS SECURITY? OOPS
A man named Dustin Lee Gilbert of Palatine is accused of taking 8 packages of Gilette Fusion brand razor blades from their display at the Oak Lawn Mariano’s. He allegedly concealed the items in his coat along with 12 packages of Olio brand skin lotion. Gilbert found out that Mariano’s employs a ” Loss Prevention Agent” who escorted Gilbert to the Loss Prevention Office.
The merchandise was recovered from Gilbert and photographed according to police reports. Gilbert was charged with Retail Theft and will appear at the Bridgeview Courthouse on 04/09/15.
DINE AND DITCH AT TGIF
A TGI Friday’s waitress reported that she served two “Heavy build female blacks” that ditched the bill after consuming a meal. According to the waitress, the two women ordered a meal and were presented with a bill of $37.91.
Instead of paying the bill, the two women allegedly “fled” the restaurant in a black Pontiac. The two apparently did not flee fast enough as the police have the car’s license plate.
