WINDS OF CHANGE IN THE VILLAGE OR NOT?
The election is over but you couldn’t tell by the congratulatory calls that were made on Tuesday night. Every where in the United States the losing candidate calls the winning candidate to congratulate him or her on the victory. Except, apparently in Oak Lawn. Trustee Bob Streit did not receive the customary call from Scott Hollis on election night. Of course, Streit tells us that he wouldn’t want to ruin the perfect record. He defeated Quinn Mucker three times, Steve Loulousis once and Dan Sodaro once and none of the individuals called to congratulate him on the victory.
Streit did get a message from an employee who took the opportunity to use the F word in his text. Stay classy Oak Lawn!

ADVERTISING A BUSINESS?
While the Oak Lawn Leaf is still the best place to advertise your business in town, we also want to put in a plug for the train station. The Chamber offers advertising rates on the television monitor in the station of $75 per quarter or $250 per year. There is 1,000 commuters every day.
TWO POLITICAL DYNASTIES CONTINUE
Lost in all the excitement of Oak Lawn’s village races was the Moraine Valley Community College election in which Kimberly Hastings and Michael Murphy won seats on the board. Hastings is the daughter of Orland Hills Mayor Kyle Hastings and the brother of State Senator Michael Hastings. Not to be outdone, Michael Murphy, the son of the late Cook Count;y Board of Review Commissioner Maureen Murphy and former Township Supervisor Jack Murphy, also won.
We would be remiss if we didn’t mention that Michael has a political brother also. Although Kimberly has a second brother who is a Trustee in Orland Hills.
