An alert individual called police when he saw three men screaming at one man. Witnesses said that the individual being screamed at had noticed garbage on the parkway on the west side of Melvina outside his home. He had seen one of the other three men throw a coffee cup on the ground and asked them to pick it up. Instead of picking it up, one of the men replied “F… That”. An older individual then said he would throw garbage on the street if he wanted and gave the victim “the finger”.
The third man in the group, a teenager, wearing a track suit and pants hanging below his waist according to the police, approached the witness and said “I don’t beat up old men.” He then turned to one of the other men and said, “Just get the Glock (gun) and shoot him.”
At least two of the three offenders live near the victim. When they returned to their home at the request of the police, they were searched for weapons and arrested for assault.
A residential Burglar Alarm resulted in the police call and when the police officer arrived, he found the north door of the residence open and damage to the door. The alarm was ringing and could be heard outside. The officers saw that a flat screen television was hanging on the wall on an angle because part of it had been detached from the wall.
A friend of the family looked at the damage and spoke to the owner who was out of town. Neighbors did not see anyone enter the home although a motion activated camera may have recorded someone in the home. The homeowner plans on reviewing the tape and reporting to the police if they see anyone on the tape.
The incident occurred on April 11th and the homeowner was returning that day. It was unknown if the alarm scared off the burglar but police also observed other electronic equipment that was not taken. .
