RED LIGHT CAMERA EXTENSION
Expect the Village Board to approve the extension of the red light camera contract. While other towns have moved away from red light cameras Oak Lawn has doubled down and will be adding cameras. On the plus side, the revenue from the enforcement program makes it less likely that property taxes will be raised.
IML CONFERENCE SPEAKERS
Oak Lawn Village Manager Larry Deetjen and village attorneys Paul O’Grady and Dominick Lanzito were panelists at one of the conference’s sessions. The trio spoke on the issue of collecting taxes from online hotel reservations. O’Grady has served as the main contact for the firm Peterson, Johnson and Murray after leaving the village’s previous law firm, Querry and Harrow.
Trustees Terry Vorderer (Dist. 4) and Robert Streit (Dist. 3) also attended the conference held last weekend in Chicago. The conference is a yearly event. No other Oak Lawn elected officials were seen but they may have been in attendance and just not seen.
TOO MUCH TIME ON HIS HANDS?
A steadfast supporter of Mayor Sandra Bury has sent over 200 messages to the Oak Lawn Leaf with multiple fake email addresses. The comments, which are usually poorly written and borderline psychotic use the names “Nicki Gee” and “Lance Charger” while referring to events that never occurred. Obviously, this person has too much time on their hands. While we welcome comments, you have to use a real email to register and the person refuses yet still provides “comments”.
APPOINTEE NEVER PULLED A PERMIT
An appointee of Mayor Sandra Bury failed to pull a permit and construction work at his home was shut down. Months later, the permit was still not showing. Will he have to start the work again? Why did this appointee believe he was above the law? Do you know who it is?
His family have been big supporters of Bury in social media.
ANOTHER BOGUS INVESTIGATION?
Our sources tell us that the recent story about a grand jury subpoena regarding firefighter union funds is more of the same Oak Lawn politics. The brain trust that has pushed for subpoenas in other instances was pushing again. We are told that this investigation will go NO WHERE just like the others but it was an excellent opportunity for some to attack the firefighters’ union.
