One of Mayor Sandra Bury’s appointees to the Arts Commission posted on Facebook that he has a bathroom in his garage. He has been very active on Facebook defending the Mayor and attacking others. At times, his attacks have accused others of being corrupt and dishonest. It turns out that he never pulled a permit for the bathroom installation.
Oak Lawn High School Holiday Craft Show
Oak Lawn Community High School PTSA and the Oak Lawn Chamber of Commerce presents the 2015 Oak Lawn Holiday Craft Show and Business Showcase. The event is on Saturday October 17th from 10 am-3 pm at Oak Lawn Community High School (9400 Southwest Highway) and supports PTSA scholarships awarded to graduating seniors. State Budget Impasse Begins to Affect Funding for 9-1-1 Centers
Downstate St. Clair County announced that it is suing the State of Illinois. The county wants the money from a tax collected by the State on cellphone bills. The Emergency Telephone tax is meant to support the 24/7 operation of 9-1-1 centers across Illinois, but money collected by this tax is not being distributed by the State to local 9-1-1 boards this fall because the money for the distribution has not been appropriated by agreement between the General Assembly and the Governor.
ST. Germaine Soccer Club Scores For Young Players
Celebrate the end of a great season with the Trojan Soccer Club of St. Germaine. Join the group for its inaugural Soccer Night along with the Chicago Fire of the MLS and the Chicago Red Stars of the WPSL on Friday, October 16, 2015. From 6:00pm to 9:00pm, O’Shea field located at 97th & Kolin in Oak Lawn will be transformed into a field full of future stars as watching Kindergardners to 4th graders participate in small team matches. The Fire and RedStars are planning on providing some training equipment for the youngsters to enjoy. Other organizations have also joined providing the event with volunteers to serve food, drinks and entertainment. Music and movies will be playing as well so bring your blankets and lawn chairs.
St. Linus Gobble Gobble Run
St. Linus will donate ten percent of the proceeds to the Cure It Foundation/Emily Beazley’s Demand for A Cure Chapter in honor of the young Mt. Greenwood girl who died this year after a long battle with cancer. The Gobble Gobble Run or Wobble fundraiser is set for November 21st and starts at 9am on the school grounds.
Halloween 5K Walk/Run and family activities at Moraine Valley
Before getting caught up in costumes and trick-or-treating, fit in a quick run or walk and have fun with your children at the Halloween 5K on Saturday, October 31, 8 a.m., on the main campus of Moraine Valley Community College, 9000 W. College Pkwy. in Palos Hills.Participants can walk or run the chip-timed, certified 5K (3.1 mile) loop around campus with the runners taking off first and prizes awarded to the top finishers. Children ages 5 to 12 also can participate in a 1K (.62 miles) run. All participants receive a T-shirt.
