Unlimited Pancakes at Denny’s apparently doesn’t mean unlimited for friends and family. After all, this isn’t a wireless company that wants your business. It’s a restaurant best known for late night dining and grand slam breakfast options.
Unfortunately, the Oak Lawn Police Department was called to the Denny’s at 92nd and Cicero Avenue at 2:30 a.m. where the waitress told police that a group of diners came to the restaurant and one person ordered the “unlimited pancakes”.
The customer was apparently surprised when the waitress told her that she could not order more “unlimited pancakes” for her friend to eat. Denny’s apparently has some kind of policy that limits the unlimited order to one person at a time.
Not getting unlimited pancakes can make one belligerent and angry. According to the waitress, the woman, later identified as Natasha West began cursing when the waitress informed her that she could not enjoy the same unlimited pancakes ordered by her friend unless she placed her own order and paid for that order.
The waitress claims that she proceeded to the cash register to take care of another customer but she alleged that West continued to yell obscenities. The waitress than told West she had to leave, which did not resolve the matter because none of the people at the table paid the bill. According to the waitress, West approached the register, pushed over the receipt printer and according to the waitress “swung her fists” in her direction.
Someone physically picked up West and carried her out according to the police report. As she was being carried out, she kicked the doors. West and her friends left in a vehicle but witnesses noticed the license plate number of the car and the police were able to alert adjoining towns.
Hometown Police stopped the car and detained the people in the vehicle. West did not cooperate with the Police either according to reports. She refused to walk into a lockup cell and threatened to spit on the staff.
Other occupants of the automobile, a woman who was not charged, and Jerome Ivory were asked for identification. The woman had an expired driver’s license and Ivory provided the name “Jonathan Lee”. Officers asked Ivory again and he said he didn’t have a name, according to the report. He was taken into custody for obstructing identification. The woman who was not charged told the police that Jonathan Lee is really Jerome Ivory. The woman who was not charged went back to Denny’s and paid the bill.
According to the police report, Ivory was uncooperative with police officers and refused to be processed.
A complaint for assault and one complaint for criminal damage to property on behalf of Denny`s against West was signed. Ivory was charged with obstructing identification.
Ivory, who lives in Chicago, is a black 31 year old male standing six feet tall and weighing 170 pounds. West, who lives at a different Chicago address, is a black 27 year old female standing five feet four inches and weighing 130 pounds.
The car was towed by Jack’s Towing, which will cost the owner a lot more than a few orders of unlimited pancakes at Denny’s. The two individuals arrested have a November 25th court date in Bridgeview.
