If the headline misled you then you probably are not a fan of Broadway musicals. By now, you may realize that the story isn’t about a job at the Park District or some governmental entity job being softer than your own nine to five existence.
No, this story is about Oak Lawn Park District’s Teen Theater Production “Nice Work If You Can Get It” which will be running at the Oak View Center, located at 4625 W. 110th Street, on February 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21.
Nice Work If You Can Get It takes place in the Roaring Twenties with a story about a rich often married man who meets a rough female bootlegger Billie Bendix the weekend of his wedding. The bootlegger gets the bright idea to hide cases of alcohol, which were illegal during prohibition, in the man’s mansion thinking he’ll be out of town for his wedding. The hilarity begins when the man and his soon to be wife show up for the wedding at the mansion. The bootlegger and her cohorts pretend to be servants leading the audience through two acts of fun.
