The Oak Lawn Park District in cooperation with the Special Recreation Athletic Support Association (SRASA) will host the 36th Annual Volleyball for Charity Co-Rec Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, April 2nd.
There are four levels of play, including the “Just For Fun” division. So, whether you are skillful or a volleyball novice, there is no reason to miss this event.
Volleyball for Charity (VFC) began 35 years ago by the Clark Family as a fundraising effort benefiting organizations that support individuals with special needs and their families. In 1979, Karen and Kevin Clark’s child, Robbie came into the world, challenged with severe physical and mental disabilities. In trying to develop a unique way of supporting the programs and care needed for their son, the Clark’s decided to do something that brought enjoyment to many. They founded, “Volleyball for Charity”. It has been successfully raising money for 35 years. This year’s proceeds will benefit the Garden Center Services, Misericordia, Park Lawn, Sertoma Center Inc. and SRASA.
The tournament will run between 8:00am-3:00pm. Tournament locations include the Community Pavilion, 9401 S. Oak Park Ave. Oak Lawn, IL , Mother McAuley, 3737 W 99th St, Chicago, IL, and Frontier Park 9807 Sayre Ave, Chicago Ridge, IL.
Adults ages 18 and up are encouraged to register a team today! Registration for the tournament is $350 and includes eight tournament t-shirts. A $450 registration option is also available and includes eight tournament t-shirts and eight after party tickets to 115 Bourbon Street. Registration and donation opportunities are available online, www.olparks.com, or at any park district facility. The registration deadline is Saturday, March 26.
The after party will be at 115 Bourbon Street, 3359 West 115th Street Merrionette Park, IL, from 6:00pm-10:00pm. Tickets are available at the door for $35 each. A ticket includes four hours of open bar, door prizes, a buffet dinner, DJ and more! Premium raffles will be available for an additional cost.
