Last week, an alert resident on the 4300 block of Kathleen Lane called for the Oak Lawn Police when he spotted a burglar walking up his neighbor’s driveway at 10:30 pm.
While getting ready for bed, the alert neighbor witnessed the burglar open a door of a vehicle parked in the driveway. The burglar then immediately closed the door and looked around. Once satisfied that the coast was clear, the burglar opened the door again and rummaged around in the vehicle.
Eventually, the burglar used the garage door opener in the vehicle to activate the motorized garage door of the residence. When the garage door had risen a couple of feet, the burglar paused the door. The burglar then slid beneath the door, into the garage, before closing the garage door from inside.
The witness stated that the burglar was in the garage for under a minute, before he reappeared exiting a side service door of the garage. The burglar immediately ran down the driveway and eastbound on Kathleen where the witness lost sight of him.
Responding officers searched the surrounding area with negative results. The burglar is described as a white male, 20 to 30 years old, with dark straight hair and a dark goatee. At the time, he was wearing a baseball hat, jeans, and a blue sweatshirt with grey sleeves.
