Advocate Christ Medical Center, Advocate Children’s Hospital-Oak Lawn and Gift of Hope Organ and Tissue Donor Network will host an afternoon of hope and remembrance today from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Oak Lawn residents are invited to attend the event in the Stein Auditorium at Advocate Christ Medical Center.
The celebration will honor the legacy of donors who offered life through donation, those who have received these precious gifts as well as offer hope to those still waiting for organ transplants.
“The event will unite donor families and recipients to reflect on the gift of life and the impact
that donation and transplantation has had on their lives,” says Dr. Darshika Chhabra, medical
director of the kidney transplant program at Christ Medical Center. “It is very moving how
grieving families make these tough decisions. I am thankful for the great team at the Gift of
Hope, who compassionately guides families and facilitates this special event.”
Parking is available off of Kilbourn Ave. in Lot E (across from the Conference Center).
Gift of Hope and its hospital partners are collaborating throughout April to promote organ and tissue donation awareness during National Donate Life Month. Our theme this year is Spreading Hope, which is what the donation and transplant community seeks to do in their ongoing efforts to save and enhance lives through organ and tissue donation.
