Worth Township Supervisor Kevin M. Hughes recently announced the winners of the 39th Annual Lenon Wisdom Memorial Spelling Bee. The competition was held on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Worth Township located in Alsip, Illinois. Participants were divided into the Junior Division consisting of 5th and 6th graders and the Senior Division consisting of 7th and 8th graders. The spellers were from schools throughout the Township.
In the senior division, Ela McHenry, a seventh grade student from Oak Lawn’s St. Gerald school captured first place. Second place was eighth grade student Adeline Larsen from Southwest Christian School. Third place was eighth grader Kenneth Stafford, who also attends St. Gerald School

The winners of the Junior Division also included an Oak Lawn presence. First place was won by Brendan Kenny, a fifth grade student at Oak Lawn’s St. Linus School. Second place was captured by Tiffani Carlsen, a sixth grader at Independence Jr. High School. Third place in the junior division was won by Brae Sanchez, a sixth grade student at Stony Creek School.
