Some Oak Lawn may enjoy outdoor festivals, parades, barbecue food, or dare we say, AMERICA, so much that they want to celebrate Independence Day all weekend. Everyone knows about Oak Lawn’s Fourth of July events and Fireworks show but restless patriots need not worry if they need to get an extra dose of celebrating this nation’s birthday. We have options if you are willing to travel outside of Oak Lawn.
Eyes To The Skies in Lisle
On Saturday July 2nd and Sunday July 3rd, events will take place at Community Park at 1825 Short Street in Lisle. Early morning and evening hot air balloon launches and evening tethered rides for an additional fee. Music, children’s area, food, craft fair, fireworks at 9:45 p.m. each day. Admission ranges from free to $8.
Naperville Exchange Club Ribfest
Noon to 10 p.m July 2nd and 3rd at Knoch Park, 724 West St., Naperville. Music headliners include 3 Doors Down Friday, Sister Hazel and Sheryl Crow Saturday, Craig Campbell and Lee Brice Sunday. Ribs and other fare, family fun area, carnival, vendors, but fireworks are at 9:30 p.m. Monday. Admission is $12 to $125 on Saturday and Sunday.
Celebrate Fox Lake
2 to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 2, at Lakefront Park, 71 Nippersink Blvd., Fox Lake. Parade starts at 2 p.m. at Grant High School, runs south on Devlin Road, west on Grand Avenue, and ends at Rollins Road. Celebrate Fox Lake begins in the park immediately after the parade. Live entertainment, craft/vendor show, games, food, beer tent and more. Dance and rock party band Dupage will play from 6 to 9 p.m. Fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Admission is Free.
Taste of Oak Brook
4 p.m. to dusk Sunday, July 3, at the Oak Brook Sports Core Fields, 700 Oak Brook Road, Oak Brook. Live entertainment, children’s activities, food from area restaurants, beverage tent, fireworks at dusk. $10 parking.
If you aren’t the adventurous type, and you can’t wait for Oak Lawn’s spectacular event on Monday July 4th, there are events at neighboring communities on Saturday and Sunday.
Burbank Park Independence Day Celebration
The Burbank Park District is celebrating Independence Day today, July 2nd at Michael Looney Park, 77th and Narragansett East. Admission is Free and fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. Other events throughout the day include a pie eating contest, bean bag tournament, horseshoes, carnival games, pony rides, and inflatables.
Bridgeview Park District’s Celebration
Oak Lawn’s neighbors to the west, the Bridgeview Park District has its celebration scheduled on Sunday with fireworks at 9 p.m. Admission is fee but other activities may have fee. The Bridgeview Park District is located at 8100 S Beloit. The Annual July 3rd Celebration includes food, live music, free swimming (for residents), carnival rides. Bridgeview residents can swim for FREE with entrance between 12 and 3pm. Non-resident daily fee will be $8 on July 3rd.
The celebration on July 3rd includes food trucks, fireworks, entertainment from DJ Mike starting at 6 p.m. and TC’s Pub Truck. Food trucks will begin serving food at 7 p.m. Favorites like the Don Rafa food truck and the MORE cupcakes food truck are returning this year. Fireworks begin at dusk.
