The 2nd Annual St. Gerald Giant Pumpkin 5K Run, in memory of Colette McGinnis, will be held on October 29, 2016. The Giant Pumpkin 5K winds through the streets of Oak Lawn surrounding St. Gerald Parish. St. Gerald is located at 9310 South 55th Court, Oak Lawn, IL.
There are different age groups and awards for the three top finishers in different categories. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
Runners and walkers who are not able to currently make that 5K run are invited to join in what organizers are calling the “Couch 2 5K Group” that will prepare you to meet the physical demands of a 5K. It is a free support group designed to turn anyone from a couch potato into a “finisher” of this 5K. The group will meet twice a week, Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 7 a.m. from August 27th to October 22nd. If you have a water bottle and gym shoes, you can participate and become a finisher for a good cause. Contact jen.m.oreilly@gmail.com if you want to join this group.
Collette McGinnis was a “teacher and friend” and is in her memory that the St. Gerald Giant Pumpkin 5K Run is held. Collette passed away in 2015. She was described as someone who made St. Gerald a great place to be and made everyone who knew her and love her better people.
