With bright colored leaves falling from the trees and a crisp bite to the air it was the perfect night for D123 schools to celebrate the season with family and friends. At Hometown Elementary tables lined the gymnasium with those eager to play Bingo at the PTA Bingo night.
“This event is such a great opportunity for families to come together socially and informally and see the school as a hub for the community,” said Hometown Principal Katy Spreitzer.
Also at Hometown nearly 40 families came out to the school, pumpkins in tow, to show off their creative flair using paint and other arts and crafts tools. The evening was an opportunity for families to gather at the school as a community and join together in a fun activity.
“It was a fun event for families because they were able to create something together while also enjoying one another’s company. One thing I’ve learned to appreciate over the last few years is our parents’ unwavering interest in spending time with their children. In a day and age when families are generally over-scheduled, it’s truly admirable,” said Principal of Hometown Kathleen Spreitzer.
This was the first year for the decorating event, due to the high interest Principal Kathleen Spreitzer hopes to host it again next year.
Guests young and old came out hoping to exclaim Bingo! at some point and claim a prize from the front table filled with things like candy, headphones, puzzles and books. Hometown hosts a bingo night nearly six times a year, giving guests of all ages the opportunity to come out and have some fun with the game.
Games were a big draw for families to come out to the Kolmar Fun Night. Smaller games and photo ops lined the halls leading to the gym where an inflatable basketball hoop, giant Jenga and other games kept kids entertained while the adults enjoyed catching up with each friends.
Arts and crafts also allowed for kids to show off their creative side to mom and dad, making fall themed wreaths and painting plates to look like Jack O Lanterns.
Over at Hannum it was a Monster Mash as elementary school students showed off their halloween best! A DJ spun the latest hits for a dance party and spooky stories were told in the dark.
