Oak Lawn Community High School recently announced that sixty-five students were inducted into the National Honor Society.
The inductees were selected by a faculty council for meeting high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. They will serve Oak Lawn Community High School as National Honor Society members on various service projects in the school and throughout the community.
Retiring English teacher Mark Kleemann served as the guest speaker and delivered a very positive message to the student leaders to find their inner passion and seize the day. He charged the NHS membership to look inside themselves, find what is important to them and make their dreams happen.
Kleemann also encouraged the new members to question everything and remain true to themselves. “In a society where a few key strokes can provide answers, we must ask questions. This seems obvious. It may not be so clear that we should not allow those questions to cloud or deter our dreams. There will always be those naysayers who will oppose any idea you may have for your life. My advice to you is do not allow the negative people to change the journey of your lives.”
