PHELAN AND OLEJNICZAK START SECOND POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE
Alex Olejniczak and Tom Phelan, who have been in power in Oak Lawn since 2005, are running again for Trustee despite claiming that they support term limits. They created an exemption in the law that limits Trustees to three terms in order to continue to stay in power. The dynamic duo has benefited from a Political Action Committee, “People who love Oak Lawn PAC”, that has solicited funds on their behalf. Now comes word that the duo have formed a second PAC, called “Keeping Oak Lawn First PAC”. The two funds allow the duo to solicit twice as much money from the same contributors. In addition, the same contributors can now donate thousands to each committee while also donating to Mayor Sandra Bury’s separate political committee, that has already sent a mailer out featuring her and Phelan. Is it a brilliant way to hide conflicts and multiple contributions?

One disgusted resident posted on Facebook recently with the question, “How close would you have to live to the police station to feel secure? I figured with the 911 dispatch window looking over the yard, I would be good, but a truck pulled in the alley with neighbors security lights on and cleaned out the garage right here”.
