An Oak Lawn man was arrested for battery, disorderly conduct and resisting a police officer outside of Sud’s Laundry on Cicero Avenue.
The police were called after the man was reported to be intoxicated inside Sud’s. The dispatcher also reported that the man was allegedly trying to touch a female inside of the business. the female victim alleged that Joseph Blatt had approached her, touched her arm and stated, “You gonna wine on this d…? The female victim said she backed away from Blatt who she alleged then raised his arms out and started walking toward her and allegedly attempted to touch her breasts.
The victim said she was able to push Blatt away and call her father. The victim said she wanted to sign a complaint and Blatt was charged. The police reported that Blatt appeared to be intoxicated but initially did not cause a problem when taken into custody. However, as he was being walked to the squad car by the police officer, Blatt allegedly turned and lunged at the officer who was able to push Blatt into the front seat of the squad.
The officer reported that he was able to pull Blatt from the front seat and push him into the back seat despite Blatt allegedly struggling during the process. The officer filing the report claimed that Blatt was belligerent during the booking process. Blatt was charged with battery, disorderly conduct, and resisting a police officer. His court date is March 15, 2017 in the Bridgeview Courthouse.
The officer asked the victim why she didn’t call the police immediately and she said she was afraid that Blatt would hear her speaking to the police and would retaliate against her because he was angry. Blatt is a 37 year old white male, who supplied the police a Columbus Drive address in Oak Lawn.
