Mayor Bury’s slate has used at least one more trick in an effort to stop the opposition at the polls today.
This time, they are using different pieces of literature to voters as they enter the precinct depending on the district. For instance, this is the literature in District 6 that Sandra Bury personally delivered to a volunteer running for one of the school district positions. In the sixth district, they included Village Clerk Jane Quinlan even though she isn’t running with Bury’s slate.
But at least in one precinct in District 4, the card did not include all the “endorsements” and instead listed four candidates for the Village and did not include Jane Quinlan.
In the first District, Steve Loulousis, who is running for Park District is endorsed and Quinlan also appears on the card. In the third district, a card was seen with Jim Buschbach’s name and Steve Loulousis. Lisa Boland and Julia Cooper, two candidates for the park district, are featured in the 5th District.
The campaign office for Bury was empty and nobody answered the door when we knocked. A campaign spokesman for Bob Streit, Jim Wilson, laughed at the misdirection at the polling places. “Now we know the real reason they don’t want anyone coming to their party tonight. They will have a lot of angry people who they are misleading. It seems that Bury and company are for certain candidates if the candidates can help them win,” said Wilson.
