Oak Lawn Trustee Robert Streit recently helped an organization that assists veterans. “Paws Assisting Wounded Warriors” is an organization devoted to helping military veterans afflicted with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
PTSD and TBI are the “invisible wounds” that many of our veterans will carry with them for the rest of their lives. The dogs aid the veteran in the process of re-entering civilian life and help them cope with these challenges so they can live more independent. Streit facilitated a donation of $1000 recently to help the veterans who suffer. Donations help our veterans by providing each dog FREE of charge and taking care of food, veterinary care and any equipment necessary for the Service Dog.
The organization is also holding its 5th Annual Pawws for Love Ball on Saturday April 22nd from noon to 5:00 p.m. at MaMa Luigi’s Restaurant, located at 7500 S. Harlem Avenue, Bridgeview, Il. Tickets are $40 earch and include dinner, dessert and a cash bar.
100 percent of the proceeds go to the veterans and dogs. Pawws pays all expenses for the life of the dogs. For tickets, call Pam at 708-369-1981.
