Grandpa Andy, as Andy Konig is known, is back today at the Oak Lawn Children’s Museum with his flowers, dirt and pots for kids to decorate. He’ll be taking over the museum’s art room and turning it into a gardening center so that children can plant a flower for their mothers.
The event is offered without any extra charge because several donors, including Andy & Rosemary Koning, Woldhuis Sunrise Greenhouse, Lowe’s, Home Depot, and Carlin’s. Grandpa Andy will be at the facility from 9 a.m. until noon today.
Then, next Saturday, May 20th, the Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn welcomes the Illinois Tollway Authority and the Illinois State Police for an outdoor event from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
Child safety seat checks will be taking place in the parking garage on the first floor. Any family who gets their car safety seat checked will get one free child admission to the museum, compliments of the Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn.
On Museum Drive between the parking garage and the train station, the street will be blocked off for a small Touch-a-Truck event.
Outside of the train station, the Illinois State Police will be providing Child Identification cards for all children.
Inside the train station, the Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn will be presenting our new Earth & Space Activities. This will be our initial public launch of these activities and we are excited to do this at this event.
