The annual St. Catherine’s Carnival, with rides, game food, entertainment and of course, a beer garden, opens Wednesday June 7th and continues through June 11.
A $25 payment each day allows participants to enjoy all the rides. Children’s games and face painting will take place in the Alexandra Center each day. Each night features entertainment from different acts, including “Mellow Jelly”, “Over the Side Band”, “Sorry for Partying”, “Two Cousins Acoustic Duo”, “Nick Lynch”, and “Sean and Charlie”.
Mellow Jelly is a rock band influenced by Led Zeppelin, Black Crows, Rolling Stones and the Doors. The band has been in existence for about 20 years.
Over The Side Band is an acoustic trio formed during a local Sunday music session at a South Side tavern. Since that time the band has been covering its musical influences such as Will Hoge, Stephen Kellog, James McMurtury, Reckless Kelly and Chicago legend John Prine.
Sorry for Partying plays Country, Dance, Hip-Hop, Pop, R&B, and Rock music. They’ve been a popular band for private receptions as well as wedding receptions.
Two Cousins Acoustic Duo was formed by just that, two cousins. The duo sells itself as a “bare-bones country rock act, who play the hits all the way from Johnny Cash to Thomas Rhett”. The duo played at the Goal Post in Oak Lawn last night.
Nick Lynch is the lead singer and the name of the band for the main show on Saturday night. Nick Lynch performs songs by Kenny Chesney, Jake Owen, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Jason Aldean, Eric Church, the Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, Kid Rock, John Mellencamp, Garth Brooks, the Steve Miller Band and others.
Sean and Charlie is a south side group performing a blend of current rock, classic rock, country, Irish, and party favorites.
