Oak Lawn Police arrested Jenae Fraly and two associates May 31st after Fraly allegedly admitted to police that she was eight months pregnant and had smoked crack cocaine as well as used heroin that day.
At around 9:30 pm on May 31st, police were checking license plates at the J.C. Miami Motel located at 90th and Cicero Avenue. The Indiana license plates on a red SUV came back as stolen two days earlier.
Detectives asked the motel clerk which room the SUV was registered to and were directed to Room #12. The room had been registered to Jenae Fraly. Detectives then observed a woman matching Fraly’s description walk to the SUV and enter the rear passenger door, where she began looking in a duffel bag.
When detectives approached Fraly and asked who the vehicle belonged to, Fraly reportedly said it was her friend’s sister’s car. She then allegedly stated, “…I know I’m not supposed to have it.” According to the police, Fraly explained that she drove the vehicle with her friends to the motel earlier that evening, then gave detectives consent to search her motel room.
A detective knocked on the door of Room #12 and a woman, later identified as Rachel Mentink, answered the door. A man, later identified as Raymond Green, was also in the room. Both were asked to exit the room.
According to the police, Mentink stated that Fraly and Green all came together in Mentink’s sister’s car. Mentink did not have a driver’s license, so Fraly was driving. Mentink had given Fraly the keys to her sister’s car three days earlier, because her sister was on vacation.
According to the police, Mentink stated that she and Fraly had been together since two nights prior. They had spent that night and the next at a motel in Lansing. Then, an hour before arriving at the J.C. Miami Motel, then had picked up Green, then headed to the motel to party.
As the detective was speaking to Mentink, he spotted a glass pipe on the bed. When asked if she smoked crack cocaine, Mentink allegedly said, “Yes, but that was Fraly’s pipe. Mine is on the window sill in the bathroom.”
The police claim, that when asked if there was anything illegal in the room, Mentink said, “No, we smoked all our crack. Fraly might have some needles in the room, and I think Green smoked all his week.”
Mentink allegedly stated that she smoked crack cocaine daily. Green stated that he smoked weed earlier, but that was all.
Fraly stated that she was eight months pregnant. When asked if she smoked crack cocaine that night, she allegedly stated, “Yes, and I shot four bags of heroin today, also.” Fraly allegedly stated that she does four bags of heroin everyday and smokes crack daily.
Fraly, Mentink, and Green were taken into custody. The police reported that eleven pills of alprazolm were located in Green’s pocket. According to the police, Green later stated that he takes the pills to relax, but did not have a prescription for them, instead taking them from his girlfriend.
Fraly was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and drug paraphernalia. Green was charged with possession of a controlled substance and criminal trespass to motor vehicle. Mentink was charged with criminal trespass to motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia.
