A man arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol in the early Sunday morning hours of August 13th, disagreed that the officers had probable cause to stop his vehicle and allegedly verbally claimed “You all a bunch of KKK Mother F…….”
The police, however, claim that they saw a gray Chrysler 200 driving southbound on Cicero Avenue that they measured going 52 miles per hour as it served over a lane marker near 99th Street. The police officer then initiated a stop near 103rd street.
The driver, identified as Wallace Sanders, was not able to produce a drivers license but said he had insurance. He told the officer he was coming from the hospital, where he was visiting a friend, but also allegedly told the officer he was coming from Matteson.
During the conversation, the officer alleged that Sanders mumbled, slurred and had “confused” speech. He said that Sanders did not recite the alphabet correctly and when asked to walk to the back of the car he raised his hands up.
It was about 3:30 a.m. and the officer asked Sanders if he had been drinking which elicited a response of “not tonight”. He then allegedly stated that he last drank at about 8:00 p.m. The officer clarified by asking if he meant that he drank on Saturday night since it was now early Sunday morning. Sanders said he drank one “Busch Beer” when he dropped a friend home.
Sanders allegedly submitted a breath sample with a blood alcohol content of 0.155. He was arrested for driving under the influence.
At the police station, Sanders allegedly then began using profanity and shouted at the police personnel as well as some other prisoner. He allegedly then made his “You all a bunch of KKK Mother F……” comment and added another gem.
You stopped me for no fu…..g reason. I did not kill anybody.
He was issued citations for driving under the influence, improper lane usage, speeding, and not having a valid driver’s license. Sanders, a 30 year old black male, provided a Matteson address to police.
