Oak Lawn police officers were dispatched to a “retail theft in progress” at the 95th Street Target on October 19th.
The loss prevention officer at the Target store had spotted a man and a woman and alleged that couple were concealing liquor bottles into back packs. After the couple had passed the last point of purchase and were on the escalator to exit the store, the police officers detained them.
The loss prevention officer told the police that she had recognized Pouncey and watched him on the surveillance cameras. She alleged that Pouncey was pushing a shopping cart and placed the bottles in the cart. According to the loss prevention officer, she alleged that Pouncey pushed the cart to another aisle and then filled the backpacks from the cart. The loss prevention officer said she watched Pouncey carry the backpacks past the register without paying.
Pouncey allegedly has prior robbery convictions and the Oak Lawn police attempted to have the State’s Attorney charge him with a felony. However, the Cook County State’s Attorney refused to charge Pouncey with a felony. He was arrested for retail theft. However, he did have an outstanding warrant.
Pouncey is a 20 year old black male who provided a Chicago address to the police.
