A 33 year old Chicago woman and a 67 year old Oak Lawn homeowner were each victimized in separate crimes last week in Oak Lawn while a man was caught trying to steal liquor.
The Chicago woman reported to the Oak Lawn Police that she was eating breakfast at Stacked, in Oak Lawn, and paid for her meal. After paying for her meal, she said she returned her wallet to her jacket pocket.
Less than an hour later, she was notified by her bank that her cards were being used by someone online shopping at Walmart.com.
The woman informed the bank that she was not making the purchases and then checked for her wallet, which was missing. She had her credit cards, work identification, and driver’s license in the wallet.
In a separate instance, a 67 year old Oak Lawn woman reported that UPS had delivered a package to her home at 3:17 p.m. according to tracking information. When she returned home at 3:45 p.m. the packages were missing. The total value of the materials was listed at $314.70.
In a third incident at Mariano’s, the store security alleged that Arell Witcher entered the liquor department and selected two bottles of Crown Royal and one bottle of Moet Chandon Champagne from the shelf. The Security personnel alleged that Witcher concealed the items in his jacket and proceeded to leave the store without paying.
The security officer stated that he stopped Witcher and the police were called. The value of the liquor was $142.80 according to Mariano’s. Witcher is a 30 year old black male and provided a Chicago address to police. Another document stated he is a Robbins resident. He was charged with retail theft.
