A woman attempting to “return” items was nabbed for retail theft after Jewel called the police to report a “deceptive practice in progress” recently.
The woman, identified as Jennifer Link, allegedly entered the store at 9424 S. Pulaski. According to store personnel, Link did not have any items with her when she entered the store.
Security personnel claimed that Link walked through the store placing items in a grocery basket. After amassing the items, Link reportedly went to the service desk and attempted to “return” the items. She did provide a receipt but it wasn’t clear if the receipt was someone’s discarded receipt or an old receipt.
The clerk approved the credit, at the direction of the security staff, which was monitoring the transaction. After Link allegedly received the refund and left the store, she was stopped. The total refund was $45.05.
Link, a 29 year old white female, with a Hometown address, was issued a ticket for retail theft and will appear before the village’s adjudication hearing officer.
