An Oak Lawn police officer noticed two cars pull into a parking lot at 103rd and Cicero on December 17th at about 11:30 p.m.
The police officer followed the vehicles into the lot and learned that the vehicles had been involved in a crash.
One of the drivers, Sean Hannan, spoke with the officer and the officer alleged that he smelled a “heavy odor of alcohol” from Hannan’s breath and his person. He also noted that Hannan’s eyes appeared to be bloodshot and glassy. The officer alleged that Hannan was mumbling his words in response to questions.
When the officer asked Hannan if he had been drinking, he allegedly admitted that he had been drinking earlier. Hannan allegedly told the officer that he had consumed between five and six Budweiser beers but he hadn’t drank in over an hour and a half.
Hannan admitted that he had left TC’s Pub in Oak Lawn and told the officer that he had a concealed carry license and had a gun in the vehicle. After conducting field sobriety tests, Hannan allegedly agreed to a breathalyzer test. The officer reported that Hannan had a blood alcohol content of .248, which is over three times the legal limit for driving a car.
A second breathalyzer, conducted later in the evening, showed a blood alcohol content of .228. Hannan, was charged with driving under the influence, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating a vehicle without insurance. Hannan is a 27 year old white male who provided an Orland Park address to the police.
