An Oak Lawn woman called the police after first hearing loud bangs coming from the rear bedroom and then seeing two woman pounding on her windows from the outside. She claimed she didn’t know the women and was afraid for her safety and the safety of “several” children in her apartment.
When the police arrived at the apartment building on Ridgeland Avenue, the officer saw two females standing next to a Mercedes. When the officer began talking to the two women, the caller exited her building and told the officer “that’s them”.
As part of the officer’s investigation, he asked for identification from each of the women, who were identified as Linda Sabbah and Ala Alghazwi, who both told the officer that they were “just hanging out” in the parking lot. When they were asked if they had any contact with the woman who had yelled “that’s them”, they answered “no”.
Alghazwi reportedly handed over her identification immediately but the officer reported that Sabbah was uncooperative, repeatedly asking why she had to provide an ID. He also claimed that she repeatedly tried to talk over him when he was asking for identification and both women began laughing.
After speaking with the victim, the police officer once again spoke with Alzhazwi and Sabbah to see if they were changing their stories. Eventually, the officer reported that the women admitted to being angry with the victim due to a parking spot. Both women were issued village ordinance citations for disorderly conduct and told to leave the scene and not talk to the victim.
When the officer returned to the victim, he noticed that Alzhawzwi and Sabbah had not left the scene and other individuals had actually joined them in the parking lot. The officer told both women to leave or they would be arrested for trespassing.
Instead of leaving, Sabbah allegedly began screaming at the officer in what he believed was another language. She then shouted, “I’m calling the police.” The officer noted that he was an Oak Lawn police officer and Sabbah allegedly told him she didn’t care.
The officer claimed that he told Sabbah to leave the scene multiple times but she slowly began walking to the apartment building while allegedly screaming that the officer was an “American Pig” and was treating Sabbah like “a dog”. She allegedly threatened to have the officer fired and continued to talk over the officer until she reached the entrance of the building. She was once again told not to enter the victim’s apartment.
Sabbah is a 27 year old white woman who provided an Indiana address to the police. Ala Alghazwi is a 28 year old white woman who provided a Chicago Ridge address to the police.
