The Oak Lawn Police were called to an Oak Lawn residence after the homeowner’s son’s girlfriend refused to leave the home.
The police arrived at about 6:30 p.m. on April 25th and spoke with the mother of the man at the front door. She told the police that her 24 year old son was dating Angenique Collins and they had been arguing earlier in the day. The argument, according to the mother, centered around Collins claiming that the son was speaking to other females. According to the mother, the argument became so heated that she had to physically place herself between her son and Collins to prevent physical harm to anyone.
The home owning mother told Collins to leave but she allegedly refused to leave and after forty minutes the Police were called. When the police officer entered the home, he said that Collins exited a hallway very quickly and told the officer she was leaving. However, the officer said that Collins walked directly toward him telling him not to touch her.
The officer alleged that he told her to stop, she refused and he stopped her back grabbing her right upper arm. Collins became irate according to the police, and began pulling away and walked up several stairs on the staircase. The officer then announced that Collins was being detained and that she was not free to leave.
Despite being told that she needed to identify herself to the officer and to stop moving about the home, she refused any requests and made it clear to the officer that he was not to touch her despite her failure to listen to the officer’s commands.
When she was asked if she lived in the home, Collins allegedly told the police that she had been married to the homeowner’s son for one year. However, the homeowner had told the police that Collins did not live in the home. The police officer decided to check with the son, who was in an bedroom. The officer knocked on the bedroom door and asked the son if he was married to Collins. He told the police that he was not married and Collins did not live in the home.
When Collins was told that the man of her dreams had denied the marriage existed, she became upset according to the police, and began running toward the bedroom. The police intercepted Collins, who they believed was ready to hit the homeowner’s son. Collins screamed, “We’re not married!”
Despite being told to calm down, Collins allegedly continued to try to push past the officer to reach the bedroom. She was placed under arrest for assault but handcuffing her was not easy for the police. She allegedly pulled her arms away to the front of her body multiple times and tried to get up the stairs. The officers face planted Collins and applied the cuffs. Eventually, Collins was escorted to a police squad and transported to the police station as another unhappy customer.
Collins is a 34 year old black female with a Chicago address.
