A 24 year old man picked a bad time to move from his “baby mama’s” home in Chicago to his mama’s home in Oak Lawn.
Oak Lawn police were waiting for Jose Guerrero to appear near his mother’s home in the 4300 block of 109th Street, because he had failed to show in court on an aggravated speeding charge and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
At about 5 p.m. on May 7th, an officer saw Guerrero exit his mother’s residence. When the officer told Guerrero to stop he allegedly ran up the stairs onto the porch, grabbed a plastic bag and opened the front screen door to the residence.
Before he was able to open the other door, the officer grabbed Guerrero and handcuffed him quickly. According to the police, Guerrero confirmed his identity to the officer and he was placed in the squad car.
Guerrero had left the bag and his wallet on the porch, according to the police. The officer smelled what he believed to be cannabis coming from the bag. He also found a ziplock bag containing additional cannabis and five $100 bills, according to the charges.
The officer claims that Guerrero asked about the marijuana and if he could put the money in his wallet. The police allege that a knotted clear plastic bag containing a white powdery substance was found inside Guerrero’s wallet.
The police claim that one of the ziplock bags of cannabis was labeled “Sunset Sherbert Banana” and weighed 18 grams. Another bag was labeled “Larry X8FV OG” and weighed 29 grams according to the police. The white powdery substance tested positive for cocaine according to the police field test.
Guerrero allegedly explained to the police that he missed court because even though he called the courthouse on May 4th and whoever answered didn’t know what courtroom he was supposed to be at. So, Guerrero didn’t go to court.
The police claim that Guerrero told them he had purchased the cannabis in Chicago for $150 and had recently been living there with his “Baby Mama” but was kicked out. He also allegedly admitted that he “smokes a lot of weed”.
Guerrero told the police that he grabbed all his belongings when he was ejected from his baby mama’s home. Those belongings amounted to a PS4 Game, a power cord, a phone charger and a bag of cannabis. Guerrero said he headed back to his mother’s house in Oak Lawn and forget the bag of cocaine was in his wallet, according to the police.
Guerrero was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful possession with intent to deliver cannabis and obstructing a police officer. Guerrero is a 24 year old white male who provided his mother’s Oak Lawn address as his address. According to the police, Guerrero had a distinctive tattoo on neck that states “f… off”.
