Southwest Highway in Oak Lawn is considered a pass through street for City of Chicago Residents heading into Oak Lawn and Oak Lawn residents heading into the southwest suburbs.
It’s also considered a speed trap because drivers like to travel at a high rate of speed on the road that is less traveled.
On May 14th, the police were monitoring traffic in the are of 97th and Southwest Highway when they observed a white Land Rover heading south at a high rate of speed. By the time the police officer caught up to the vehicle the car was pulling into a driveway at 6512 W. 103rd Street.
The police claim that the driver of the car, Noah Aboswielem exited the car and started to walk to the house while on his cell phone. The officer told Aboswielem to stop and return to his vehicle. As the officer barked the commands, Aboswielem’s brother, father, mother and his girlfriend came out of the home and were also yelling at Aboswielem.
The officer tried to take control of the situation ordering the family members to step back. At the same time, Aboswielem allegedly told the officer “I have a warrant, I’m revoked, DUI me”. The officer claimed that Aboswielem said “DUI me” several times.
As officers arrived on the scene, Aboswielem was handcuffed. He was being led to the squad car when, according to the police, Aboswielem told the officers he had “2 eightballs and 2 Xanax bars” in his pocket. The officer searched him but couldn’t find the drugs.
According to the police, Aboswielem continued to alternatively insist that he sold the drugs and had the drugs in his possession. The officers searched the vehicle for the drugs but instead of finding drugs, they found a loaded 9 mm Rugar handgun in the glove box. The brother claimed the gun was his and he had a valid FOID card.
While being transported to the police station, Aboswielem allegedly was irate and was spitting in the back of the squad. He allegedly claimed that he consumed “2 eightballs” of cocaine while in the squad. His conduct reportedly didn’t improve while in lockup. According to the police, Aboswielem continued to scream, yell and bang on the cell door.
Aboswielem allegedly told one of the officers that he had driven to Midway to buy cocaine and ingested “half an 8 ball” while driving back to Chicago Ridge. He also claimed to have been driving 100 MPH on Southwest Highway.
The officer claimed that he could smell alcohol on Aboswielem’s breath. However, Aboswielem refused to take a breathalyzer. Aboswielem later allegedly told an officer that he had driven to Midway and back as far as 66th Street when he and his brother switched seats. Aboswielem allegedly claimed that his brother drove 100 mph on Southwest Highway, alluded the police and ran into the house when the police pulled up to the home in Chicago Ridge. Aboswielem allegedly claimed that he took the blame for his brother so he wouldn’t get in trouble.
Aboswielem, a goofball, was charged with one count of felony aggravated DUI and one count of felony aggravated driving while revoked. He was also charged with reckless driving, aggravated speeding, and unlawful use of a weapon. His outstanding warrant was for possession of untaxed cigarettes. Noah Aboswielem is a 28 year old white male, who provided a Chicago address.
