Oak Lawn is the perfect place to celebrate the 4th of July.
Start your celebration on Wednesday, July 4th at the Village of Oak Lawn’s Annual 4th of July Parade. The parade kicks off at 10:00am at 95th Street and 51st Avenue and heads westbound to 95th Street and 55th Ct.
After the Parade ends, continue the fun at the Oak Lawn Park District’s NEW Party in the Park 4th of July event at Memorial Park, 102nd & Major Ave. Day time festivities will begin with a variety of family activities from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. that includes: A treasure hunt, Adult and Youth Watermelon Eating Contests, nature scavenger hunt, fishing derby, kids’ tattoos, carnival games, inflatables, bingo, crafts, magician, balloon animals, concessions and more.
You are invited to take a short stroll from Memorial Park to Stony Creek Golf Course, Restaurant & Banquets (103rd St.) to see Oak Lawn’s Got Talent at 3:00 p.m. The fun doesn’t stop if you decide to stay around for a live music performance by Katie Quick from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Children ages 3 and older pay $5 for the Park District’s daytime activities. Adults receive free admission. Party in the Park wristbands will get you free admission to Central Pool, 9400 S. Kenton Ave. and Centennial Aquatics Center, 94th & Nashville, on July 4th only.
Free evening entertainment will be held at the football field at Richards High School (106th Street and Central Avenue). Gates will open at 6:00 p.m. G.A.C. Entertainment will provide music at 7:00 p.m. Guests are welcome to bring a blanket to watch Richards High School’s evening fireworks display that is cosponsored by the Village of Oak Lawn.
Plan ahead because parking restrictions may be in place during the Oak Lawn Park District and Village of Oak Lawn’s Fireworks display at Richards High School, 10601 Central Ave., along with the Oak Lawn Park District’s Party in the Park event at Memorial Park, 102nd & Major, on Wednesday, July 4th:
Some of the issues that you may encounter if you don’t plan ahead are that the Richard High School’s entire South Lot on 107th Street will be closed for resurfacing. In addition, 107th Street will be closed to traffic.
However, Parking during these events will be available at the following locations:
• Oak Lawn Park District Racquet, Fitness & Gymnastics Center, 10444 S. Central Ave.
• Wolfe Wildlife Refuge, 109th St. & Lawler. (police patrols on the paths guiding patrons to the Fireworks display)
• Memorial Park, 102nd & Major
• Oak Lawn Park District’s Stony Creek Golf Course, Restaurant & Banquets, 5850 W. 103rd St.
