The Oak Lawn Park District and the local school districts may be the most transparent public employers because those entities seem to publish more jobs than other governmental units such as the Village of Oak Lawn, Worth Township or the Oak Lawn Public Library.
The Oak Lawn Park District has numerous jobs posted online but one stood out. The district is searching for a Community Pavilion Facility Supervisor.
The Facility Supervisor position is responsible for a wide range of tasks including customer service, maintenance duties, assisting at the front desk, rental supervision, overseeing open gym and supervising shows, expos and tournaments. This is a second shift position and requires some weekends. The Facility Supervisor will be directly supervised by the Pavilion Maintenance Supervisor and the Assistant Pavilion Manager.
The Facility Supervisor is responsible for helping with the smooth operation of the facility. The duties include but are not limited to overseeing facility rentals including helping guests to the appropriate rooms, setup, clean up, and monitoring parties are rentals. Supervision of part time recreation, front desk, and maintenance staff as well as assisting the front desk during high traffic periods with registrations, daily visits, customer service, memberships, and open gym. The Facility Supervisor will occasionally have to visit two satellite facilities to assist with rentals. The Facility Supervisor will also provide onsite supervision of small trade shows, expos, and tournaments. Oversee open gym operations and ensure patrons are following code of conduct/rules as well as responding to a variety of issues including scheduling, rentals, customer service, maintenance or other issues that may occur. Communicating issues with program supervisors that may arise during evening programs is also essential.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation and Parks Administration or equivalent degree. Basic computer skills are required as well as the ability to learn Rec Trac 3.1. The successful candidate must be able to work independently, have excellent customer service, communication and decision making skills. Strong organizational habits are recommended and must have a valid driver’s license. The base salary is $33,000 – $35,000 as a Full time hourly position.
Oak Lawn Community High School District 229 is searching for a Dean Assistant and candidates should possess strong oral communication skills and have the ability to relate and interact with high school students. Candidates must be able to treat students in a firm, fair, and consistent manner. A high school diploma, valid Illinois driver’s license, and a clean driving record are also required for the
Dean Assistants collaborate with the Deans and the administration in maintaining a safe and secure school/campus. Duties include: 1) supervising students in non-academic settings such as the hallways, cafeteria, parking lots, and locker-rooms; 2) escorting students/guests; 3) directing pedestrian/
vehicular traffic; 4) patrolling the campus and parking lots; 5) greeting school visitors; 6) confronting and addressing students in violation of school rules; 7) recording student attendance; 8) distributing hallway passes and school materials; 9) providing supervision during school emergencies; 10) performing other non-academic activities.
Dean Assistants work a five-hour shift weekdays between the hours of 4:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Shifts are assigned based according to supervision needs. The hourly rate is $11.71/Hour/
The Village of Oak Lawn Police Department is hiring a code enforcement officer on a part-time basis. The pay is $9.25 an hour.
Duties of the position include enforcing parking regulations and Village Ordinances, assisting police officers in performing their jobs, handling animal control calls, directing traffic and other general and clerical duties as needed. Oak Lawn Hometown District 123 is hiring a Special Education Teacher Aide. Job Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and a Paraprofessional License issued by the Illinois State Board of Education

Worth Township is hiring Pace Mini Bus Drivers (part-time). Under the direct supervision of the PACE Operations Manager, the PACE Mini-Bus Driver transports senior citizens and handicapped persons in the township to medical appointments and grocery shopping.
The mini-bus driver must have a valid Illinois driver’s license with a CDL and a passenger endorsement and pass the PACE Driving School Course. The successful candidate must also be willing to submit to and pass an Illinois Department of transportation physical and the Federal Department of Transportation’s random and scheduled drug and/or breath alcohol tests. This individual must also submit to and pass a background check with the Illinois State Police. In addition, the applicants must have a clean driving record. Experience in driving a mini-bus is desired. Experience with a two-way radio is also a plus but not required. The ability to work well with the public is a must. Flexibility and the ability to be a team player are essential. The driver hired will have a six-month probation period.
