An Oak Lawn man was charged with battery after a dispute with a neighbor over fireworks erupting in the air and between the neighbors.
Ricci Trinidad allegedly walked over to a neighbor’s house on the 4th of July to confront a group because he believed they were shooting fireworks at his house. The two neighbors share an alley in the block of 10000 Marion Avenue and Merton Avenue.
The two neighbors have a history and Trinidad was convinced that the fireworks were intentionally aimed at his home. According to all the witnesses, Trinidad and the party goers began yelling at each other and someone at the party said they were calling the police.
The call to the dispatcher claimed that a man had pushed and threatened people at the residence. The caller claimed that Trinidad grabbed toward the right hand side of his waistband and yelled “I shoot back”.
By the time the police arrived, around 9 p.m., Trinidad had left and based on the description provided to the police, he was found in the alley that separates Merton homes and Marion homes.
The party goers admitted that they were lighting off bottle rockets in the alley with younger family members. They alleged that Trinidad walked down the alley, was pacing back and forth and began yelling at everyone. The witnesses alleged that Trinidad called one woman a “whore” and told a man whose wife is pregnant that the child was not the man’s child.
According to the party goers, Trinidad yelled that he would “take on” anyone at the party and when he was told to leave, he pushed one of the men at the party forcing the man backwards. That man told the police he wanted to press charges for battery and Trinidad was arrested for battery.
As for the alleged gun, the police could not find a gun and none of the witnesses ever saw a gun. Trinidad has an August 10th court date at the Circuit Court in Bridgeview. Trinidad is a 45 year old while male and an Oak Lawn resident.
