Oak Lawn Contracts for Sewer Reconstruction Work
The Village of Oak Lawn posted a “Notice of Sewer Contract Work” on its website on July 30th. Here is the posting for those that don’t look on the village’s website and otherwise were not aware:
“Insituform Technologies USA LLC. (ITUSA) will be doing some sewer reconstruction work. An innovative process called “Insituform” will be utilized to reconstruct certain sections of badly deteriorated sewer. This reconstruction will be done without time consuming, expensive and disruptive excavation. Instead of digging up and replacing the old pipeline, the Insituform®process provides for the insertion of a special lining inside the pipe, creating a new smooth-surfaced, long-lasting pipe within the old sewer. Normally each section of sewer to be reconstructed will require up to a 12 hour period to complete. During this time the sewer connection to your home or commercial
establishment will be sealed off. Consequently, you will be asked to make limited use of your toilet facilities and refrain from doing laundry for this period. You will receive a door hanger informing you of the time and date of your limited water use period. (If work is canceled for that date you will receive a red door hanger notifying you of the cancellation). As stated above, Insituform® is a new and interesting process. Residents are welcome as spectators, if they watch from a safe distance. The project supervisor, when he has time, will be able to explain the process to interested persons at the job site. By the way, while we have your attention, here’s a tip: Take a minute to pour a cup or two of water into each basement floor drain. It keeps the “trap” full which prevents sewer odor from coming into your home. Because the water evaporates, this should be done regularly. If you have any questions or comments, please call Insituform Technologies USA LLC at (708) 326-5108 and refer to Insituform® work in your neighborhood.
Man Finds Bathroom Door Locked; Improvises Unsuccessfully
In another episode of “One Big Toilet”, the Oak Lawn police nabbed another public urinator at about 5:15 p.m. on Monday July 30th. Dale Kinzie, who provided a Burbank address, was caught red handed by the police who were heading to another call in the parking lot of Jewel at 88th and Ridgeland when they claim Kinzie was relieving himself on the side of the Jewel building. The officer allowed Kinzie to finish his outdoor toilet duty and then approached him asking for identification. Kinzie reportedly told the police that he tried to use the bathroom inside the Jewel but the door was locked, which it often is when someone is inside. Kinzie ended up with a village ordinance citation for public indecency. Kinzie is a 58 year old white male that should know better.
Chicago Man Thought He Served His “Time Out” But Was Off Target
A Chicago man was charged with criminal trespass to property after ignoring a previous order barring him from the Oak Lawn Target Store. The security personnel called the police after Bess entered the store and headed for the video game section. When he wouldn’t leave, the Oak Lawn police were summoned. Levell Bess had previously received a village ordinance citation on May 3rd for Criminal Trespass to Target after he allegedly caused a disturbance in the same section. The police found him in the electronic section playing with a display video game. He allegedly told the police that he thought he was only banned for a couple of months and not for life. Unfortunately for Bess, a 38 year old black male, the ban is a lifetime prohibition.
