Apparently Coopers Hawk Winery is so good some people just don’t want to leave. Some customers even need to be escorted away by the police.
Oak Lawn police were called to Coopers Hawk for a disturbance on November 17th that was described as “multiple subjects inside the restaurant” refusing to leave.
As the police officer arrived, a man was backing up through the front doors spraying pepper spray in the face of at least one man in the group of individuals who were apparently forcing the victim outside.
The man getting sprayed in the face was Larry Bryant and soon Bryant and the victim were embroiled in a fight with both men falling to the ground where they were separated by the Oak Lawn officer. Another man with Bryant fled through the parking lot. The victim was a security officer and he told the officer that Bryant was intoxicated and the manager of Coopers Hawk had asked that Bryant leave.
When the security officer asked Bryant to leave the restaurant, he alleged that Bryant began cursing and yelling at the security officer calling him a racist.
Bryant, and the other man, initially left the restaurant but attempted to return and were met by the security officer who told the men that they were barred from the restaurant.
Bryant apparently didn’t like the idea of being barred and allegedly asked, “Who the f-word are you?” and “F-word you.” The security officer claimed that Bryant threatened him and then slapped him on the right side of the face. According to the security officer, the other man hit him on the head also.
The security officer sprayed each of the men in the face with pepper spray and began backing out of the door. That’s when the Oak Lawn police arrived.
Another man was detained in the parking lot and brought back to the scene but was released when it was determined that he had not been involved.
The security officer signed complaints for battery and for criminal trespass to property.
Bryant was taken into custody but his attitude did not improve according to the police. Bryant allegedly yelled and cursed at one of the police officers calling him a “cracker” and threatening to “kill him”.
In the lockup, he provided an X-rated show. In addition to yelling the F-word at police personnel, he allegedly stipped and became fully naked while being booked. He was given a $1,500 bond and has a court date on December 20th in Bridgeview, where he will be required to be fully dressed.
Bryant is a 44 year old black male with a Chicago address.
