Advocate Christ Medical Center is seeking members of the community to volunteer to greet, escort and direct patients and guests.
Each year, more than 500 volunteers contribute over 60,000 hours of service to the medical center.
“Our volunteers are an integral part of our community. Their selfless dedication of time and talent makes a significant contribution to the quality of care provided to our patients, visitors and guests alike. When a volunteer delivers flowers or mail, visits with a patient, or offers a smile or comforting word, he or she helps to brighten someone’s day. That’s important to our patients, and it’s important to us,” said Ana Chapa-Cruz, manager, patient relations, guest services and volunteer services.
Currently the medical center is looking for dedicated adults and teens who want to make a difference and lend a helping hand. Some of the volunteer opportunities available are patient greeters at the information desks and waiting areas in various departments throughout the medical center including, but not limited to, the emergency department, imaging center and surgical waiting rooms. Volunteers work alongside with Guest Services at points-of-entry, greeting, escorting and directing patients, visitors and guests.
“No matter where or how you contribute, we all help people live well,” said Chapa-Cruz.
If interested in becoming a volunteer, applications are available online at www.advocatehealth.com/cmc-howtovolunteer or stop by or call the volunteer office at 708-684-5248. Teens must be 16 or 17 years of age and in high school to volunteer at the medical center.
