Auditions for the Oak Lawn Park District Community Theatre Production of “Evita” will be held on Monday, January 7th and Tuesday, January 8th at 7:30 p.m. Auditions are held at the Oak View Center located at 4625 W. 110th St.
Evita opened on Broadway on September 25, 1979 and closed after 1567 performances on June 26, 1983. Evita won 13 Tony Awards in 1980, including Best Musical. Evita is Andrew Lloyd Webber’s complex and dynamic musical masterpiece, charting Eva Peron’s ambitious rise from poverty to prominence. María Eva Duarte de Perón was the wife of Argentine President Juan Perón and First Lady of Argentina from 1946 until her death in 1952. While her full name may have been Maria Eva Duarte de Peron, she was usually referred to as Eva Perón or Evita. She was said to be the most beloved and hated woman in Argentina, which is similar to the feelings many Americans have of their elected leaders and their spouses.
One of the many popular musical scores, “Don’t Cry for Me, Argentina”, is known to many all over the world.
The production will run on March 23, 24, 29, 30, and 31. Tickets are available at the Oak View Center, by phone at 708-857-2200, or online at www.showtix4u. For more information please call 708-857-2200.
