Porch Pirates Strike Again
An Oak Lawn man filed a report with the police Department after a scheduled delivery to his home was apparently intercepted by Porch Pirates. The man told the police he ordered a set of Bose headphones from eBay and was expecting the delivery on a certain day. When he arrived home and checked, the package was not on his porch. According to the US Post Office, the package was delivered and left on the porch. Unfortunately, the man did not have surveillance equipment to see who stole the package. If you see suspicious people walking up to your neighbors’ homes, who you know are at work, call the police.
This Is Why We Can’t Have Anything Nice
Self Check out registers are great if you have a few items, you want to get in and out of the store. They may also be good for thieves but stores may be catching on. Recently, the Oak Lawn Police were called to Target and met the security officer who told the police that he had nabbed a self checkout “customer”. The security officer claimed that he watched Kayla Jefferson, who is not a relation to George Jefferson or Thomas Jefferson, place multiple items into shopping bags at the checkout. He also claimed that Jefferson did not scan the items. you are not a thief.
He also claimed that when a Target employee was alerted to the flashing red light, Jefferson said she would just use another register. She allegedly did use the other register but allegedly didn’t pay for all the items. The security officer stopped her as she was leaving the store. The police issued an ordinance violation to Jefferson for retail theft. She was also given a criminal trespass warning and is not allowed at that Target. Kayla Jefferson is a 22 year old black female with a Chicago address.
“I never knew JFK has such a Temper”
It is a classic line in Seinfeld when JFK’s golf clubs were purchased for Elaine’s boss but later damaged by Kramer. Oak Lawn is apparently similar to Seinfeld because the police received a report of damage to property from a man who was staying with a friend in Oak Lawn. When he returned one day, his golf clubs were broken in half. The victim knows the offender because the angry man left a voicemail admitting that he broke the golf clubs. The offender also wanted to meet the victim to fight him. Time to channel that anger into something useful.
This Isn’t Mayberry or the Place You Grew Up So Lock Your Doors
Another Oak Lawn man must not read police blotters. He told police he parked on the other side of town on Keeler near 108th and left his vehicle doors unlocked. Someone, who we don’t believe is Opie Taylor, opened the door and helped himself to prescription bottles of Ambien and Subutex. This is the last warning, lock the doors.
