An Oak Lawn Detective on patrol followed a car that was allegedly speeding and watched it park in the Midway Motel parking lot at about 3:40 a.m. last Saturday.
The detective waited and watched as the driver backed into a parking space but didn’t exit the car. An unknown man approached the car and spoke with the two occupants of the car while the detective watched from a distance. Later, another man also approached the car and leaned inside while talking to the occupants.
Police officers joined the detective and approached the car to ask why the occupants were sitting in the parking lot in a car. According to the police, the driver, Freddie Parsons, became uncooperative and allegedly was swearing at the officers.
At the same time, officers said they saw an open bottle of Hennessy at the feet of the front seat passenger, Kadesha White. There was also a plastic cup of alcohol in the cup holder near White according to the police. According to the police, there were other cups with alcohol in the car.
White reportedly told the police that she was only 18 years old. The police officer alleged that they told both occupants to get out of the car.
The police alleged that Parsons was told several times to exit the vehicle and refused. Eventually, Parsons exited the vehicle, according to the police and he was patted down for weapons. During the pat down, the police alleged that Parson turned suddenly toward the detective and began screaming.
During the verbal altercation, the detective alleged that spit was coming out of Parsons’ mouth that hit the detective. He instructed Parsons to turn away. Parsons allegedly turned away but again turned back to scream and in the course of doing so, spit on the detective.
Parsons, a 29 year old black male, with a Willowbrook address, was charged with battery. White, an 18 year old black female, with a Chicago address, was charged with underage possession of alcohol. None of the people in the car or who approached the car had rented a room at the motel, according to the police. The vehicle was towed.
