The Oak Lawn community is defined as the people with common interests living in the area.
That’s a pretty broad definition and perhaps it doesn’t fit your own thoughts of the community. In fact, you may think that the community is only the homeowners or maybe the people who actually put forth an effort. Others may define the community as a smaller group within the larger population.
For instance, people who are involved in the park district activities, the library, the many public or private schools, Park Lawn, the various church groups, gardening clubs, sports leagues or perhaps the Knights of Columbus think of the community as that particular group.
It really doesn’t matter how you define it because like it or not, you are part of the community. If you are passionate about the community, however you may define it, we are giving you a chance to share your story.
You may have noticed that we often publish local news about the park district, the schools and even some charitable organizations. We’ve even had news about Christ Advocate Hospital. We publish that news as we receive it, often without any edits.
So, what does this have to do with you?
Perhaps you want to share nutrition tips on a weekly basis. Maybe, you are an exercise fanatic and you want to spread the message of cardio and weights. If that isn’t your bag and you prefer cooking or reviewing restaurants, give it a whirl. We are waiting for you.
We are giving you a chance to be a community correspondent. You can report on anything you want from the Township meetings and events, the village board, park district events, church social organizations, or just neighborhood news.

Is it a cheap ploy to get free stories for the Oak Lawn Leaf? Maybe. Let’s face it, with Fake News at the national level and a disappearing community news due to social media, we need you and so does the rest of the community. If you are looking to push your business, we are sure that there isn’t something that can be worked out. Let’s combine forces and make this community great.
But, it is also a chance for you to share your brilliant writing and your organization’s news. If it isn’t good enough, we’ll help you out and make it ready for print. Send it to firstname.lastname@example.org
