Oak Lawn Community High School juniors Amira Biba and Diego Perez were selected from over 200 applicants to participate in the floChicago internship.
This year-long internship is the Future Leaders of Chicago Program. Amira and Diego will be among 30 high school juniors who will spend a week at the University of Chicago this summer where they will reside in the dorms, meet mentors and participate in various field experiences. Then, once a month they will join their cohort in different leadership workshop experiences throughout the city. These include civic engagement, leadership development, and college preparation.
Amira and Diego will graduate with this cohort at the end of their senior year, when these future leaders will join a vibrant community of floChicago alumni who continue to support and learn from one another, engage in their communities – and perhaps even come back to floChicago as a staff member.
