Democratic candidate Marie Newman criticized Dan Lipinski’s vote to side with Republicans in Congress and Donald Trump in upholding the President’s ban on the use of fetal tissue research by government scientists.
“This is another instance of Dan Lipinski showing his Republican colors and supporting the Trump agenda,” said Newman. “I am beyond disappointed that Dan Lipinski would put his personal agenda above needed scientific research and the potential to cure horrible illnesses,” continued Newman. Dan
Lipinski is one of three Democrats to vote against the measure.
According to the Chicago Sun Times, “life-saving vaccines have been developed for rubella, rabies and other diseases. Treatments for cystic fibrosis, Parkinson’s, ALS — commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease — cancer and spinal cord injuries have emerged or are on the horizon.”
“This critical research is helping find cures for terrible diseases like Parkinson’s, ALS, Alzheimer’s and cancer. My mother suffers from Parkinson’s, as do so many people in our communities, so this vote hits close to home. If elected to Congress, I will stand with science and the people of the 3rd District in helping find cures and improve their health and well being,” finished Newman.
